Odd Socks Day
We took part in Odd Socks Day in support of Anti-bullying Week
We are holding an open morning for parents of children due to start school in September 2019. If anyone is unable to attend but would like to look around our school, please contact the school office to arrange.
Year 4 had a fantastic time at Winchester Roman Fort. They visited some archaeological remains of a Roman road and also a Roman bath house. Some eagle-eyed children managed to spot a Roman footprint on the floor of the bath house and also the Binchester beast! They had lots of fun dressing up as Romans, as well as searching for artefacts in the sand pit and cleaning them using toothbrushes. Later, the children had the chance to make their own Roman-style thumb pot and decorate with engravings.
Classes had a great time learning Judo skills. A qualified Instructor taught the children special holds and moves.
Reception Class Trip
Reception Class had an amazing time on a Gruffalo Adventure day. To begin with they took part in a Gruffalo trail where they found all the characters from the story. They even found the Gruffly himself! They went on a scavenger hunt to find ingredients to make a Gruffalo Crumble. Then during the afternoon the children made mice out of clay. See more pictures from their adventures in the YR Hardwick Park Gallery.
Roald Dahl Day
Everyone had a great day. Children and staff dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character and took part in different activities throughout the day. See some pictures from the day in our Roald Dahl Gallery.
Year 3 had a great day visiting the BFG Exhibition at Bowes Museum, learning to draw in the style of Quentin Blake using ink pens. They then did some creative writing about the BFG on his adventures at the Museum. See more pictures in the Y3 Bowes Museum Gallery.

Welcome Back To School
We would like to welcome everyone back to the start of the new school year. We would like to say a special welcome to children and families just joining Holy Family School in EYFS, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5.
Following our recent inspection, we are so proud of our well-earned Ofsted report. Staff and children were really able to show off their learning, brilliant building and amazing talents. Please click here to see our report.
We are also very proud and excited to announce that three of our pupils have each been offered a place at The Dance City Centre for Advanced Training in Newcastle. Following our Dance Team’s performance at the Primary Schools Dance Festival, the whole team were invited to take part in a special dance workshop. It was during this workshop that their talents were ‘spotted’ and the three girls were invited to audition.
This really is a fantastic achievement! The girls were up against talented dancers aged between 10 years – 16 years from around the whole of the North East. After attending an initial audition, those who made it through were invited back for more complex auditions and an interview. Each of the girls were successful in every round and will have the opportunity to begin training in September. We look forward to following their talents and future careers. Very well done and congratulations

Holy Family Christmas Fair
We would like to congratulate one of our Year 6 pupils and member of our KS2 Running Club, who recently competed and won the Under 11 boys title at the British Modern Biathlon Championships in Solihull. This adds to the British Schools Under 10 title he also won in March this year at Crystal Palace.
The KS2 Running Club, which is organised and led by Miss Dove and Mrs McNulty, should feel proud of their involvement. The pupil’s parents thanked staff for the extra Friday evening training which helped him take 8 seconds off his pre-qualifying run times.
His brother, a former pupil, also had success at the same event, finishing 7th in the Under 16 boys event. Well done.
Many congratulations and we look forward to watching your future achievements.
